80 kilometers
away from Yalong Bay, located in the Nanshan
area of Sanya City, is located the Nanshan
Cultural Tourism Zone. Located near 255 National
Avenue and the expressway is the northern
part of the zone. The zone is divided into
three theme parks: The Buddhism Cultural Park
displays the traditional culture of Buddhism.The
major features in this park are the Nanshan Temple , |
the statue
of the Mother Buddha, the holy heritages of
the Buddha in India, the Buddhism Landscape
Garden, the Tower Forests, the Buddhism Cultural
Communication Center and a street for vegetarian
food and shopping. The Park of Felicity and
Longevity highlights the atmosphere of peace,
felicity and auspiciousness. The Park of Cultural
Traditional Architectures of the Li and Miao
nationality makes good use of the unique charms
of the blue sky and the ocean, sunshine and
beach, mountain and rocks around Nanshan and
highlights the natural scenery and the cultural
customs of Li and Miao nationalities.

Nanshan
Gold and Jade Mother Buddha
The Gold and Jade Mother Buddha is
made up of four parts: The Mother
Buddha statue, the Mother Buddha radiance,
the Buddha¡¯s treasure seat in the
form of a lotus flower, and the foundation.
It is 3.8 meters tall and made of
a great many rare treasures such as
over 100 kilograms gold, over 120
carats of South African diamonds,
thousands of red and blue precious
stones, emeralds, corals, pearls,
and over 100 kilograms of green jade.
It is an accurate and fine piece of
Chinese traditional palace handiwork.
The statue of the Mother Buddha is created by over 200 pieces of gold, each 1.2 millimeters thick on average welded together. The different
technological treatments used in making
the statue of the Mother Buddha, creates
different colors and a strong sense
of realism, natural grace and lifelike
features. |
| Nanshan Mother
Buddha was originally designed in 1998.
The whole process took six years and
ten months to complete. It is a three-side
Buddha statue with a height of 108 meters. |
